There are various fields of life where smart lighting can provide benefits. Some of the well-known areas are energy savings, security, ambient settings, and remote access via wired or wireless networks. There are also some less visible, or less known aspects of smart lighting, such as human-centric lighting, intelligent maintenance (for example: failure prediction, constant lumen over time, etc.), but also communication over visible light which can provide data throughput, much faster than conventional wireless data transfer options.
This presentation covers the fundamentals of human-centric lighting, its motivation and benefits, as well as technology required to realize a human-centric lighting system. In particular, this presentation will explain one typical use case and an implementation using XMC Industrial Microcontroller and OptiMOS MOSFETs from Infineon, as well as 5630 LEDs LM561B+ from Samsung and CY8CKIT-142 PSoC 4 BLE modulesy from Cypress, supplied by EBV.
